Film and Media Arts Institute: New Vision Partners will be providing a month long Film and Media Arts Institute for middle and high school students. Students will be working in teams to make a short film, produce a radio show, publish a magazine, or produce a CD of their original work. Information Application

The Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is a gifted education program for school-age children, founded in 1979 by Dr. Julian Stanley at Johns Hopkins University. CTY offers numerous programs around the world and online but is best known for its fast-paced Summer Programs, which are held on many university campuses throughout the US. The National Bar Association is seeking applicants for the Crump Law Camp which was established for students entering the 9 th through 11 th grades and between the ages of 14 and 17 to introduce them to the judicial system. The goal of the National Bar Association (NBA) camp is to encourage young people at an early age to become lawyers and seek legal careers in the future .Applications are available on the NBA website is www.Nationalbar.org

Volunteer Programs:

UCLA Health System: Volunteer Services - Student volunteers for the 2010 summer program at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Students must submit and application and essay. Information at www.UclaHealth.org or contact the Volunteer office at 310-267-8180.

Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium Volunteer Program: On the Manhattan Beach Pier. Ages 14 and up. Assist with tank maintenance, educating the public, animal care. www.roundhouse.aquarium.org

USC Summer Programs: Courses in architecture, pre-health, pre-law, business, engineering, journalism, writing, visual & performing arts, global issues, and science - all taught by university instructors. Learn more at: http://cesp.usc.edu/.

Cornell University Summer College: www.summercollege.cornell.edu Programs run for 3 to 6 weeks between June 26 and August 10, and will earn an average of 6 college credits.

Norwich University Summer Leadership Camps: Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Must have at least a 2.5 GPA to participate. Runs from June 27 through July 10 (session I) and July 18 through July 31 (session II). www.norwich.edu/admissions/summerprograms

Institute for Educational Advancement Apprenticeship Program: Must be current freshman, sophomore or junior and demonstrate exceptional abilities, focus and a creative spirit. Programs run from June 27 - July 17; June 27 - July 24; and June 20 - July 10. Application deadline is April 30. www.educationaladvancement.org

Student Conservation Association Conservation Crews: Opportunities for tuition-free volunteer service. Three to five week programs promoting citizenship, teamwork and stewardship of the land. California Legislative Black Caucus Youth Leadership Scholarship - The California Legislative Black Caucus is committed to celebrating African-American culture and promoting leaders through education. We invite you to submit this application and join in our effort to advance the next generation of community leadership. The application deadline is Friday, April 30, 2010.
